Philip Jones
In this noisy world the presence of a still and silent object that encourages the viewer to think and feel what they will appeals to me. I draw upon my experience in jewellery and a background in the theatre to add intrigue and drama to my work in a style that is simplistic yet full of intricacy; mixing mediums such as glass, stone, wood and precious stones, with well defined form and colour to tell a silent story.
I find the quality of bronze vividly captures my ideas in a way that is significant and contemporary, and I savour creating fresh work and discovering new possibilities using such an ancient medium and techniques. Bronze is uncompromising yet it’s incredible versatility and durability makes it a perfect medium to convey my ideas with elegance.
