My new work is focusing on Pittwater’s foreshores.
As a passionate bush regenerator and living on the edge of the Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park I have been able to paint the rewards of my efforts, uncovering rainforests to reveal new landscapes.
A rainforest offers many subjects, from botanicals to landscapes including the local fauna. Painting from the bush track or the boat I like to paint plein air exploring the emotional response that these different details or views can create.
Moving along the foreshores at the water’s edge I am struck by the juxtaposition of man and nature. Boats and our built environments trying to sit comfortably in the chaos of the Australian landscape. These current landscapes are a testament to the different orders coexisting, and how the landscape is evolving.
Its with these elements that the landscape’s tension changes, there are untold stories for each painting. A capture of time from Pittwater’s foreshore.
