For this show my body of work reflects the experience of sailing down the east coast of Australia, of literally living on the water for months.
During this time I found that I became one and the same with the elements around me.The boundaries of sea sky and self became blurred and I was no longer certain where one stopped and the other began. It is essentially this feeling that I have tried to capture in my work. Using oil paints mixed with wax and stand oil and then applied with expressive , gestural brush and pallet knife work I aim not at a photographic like representation but to try to capture the illusory essence of my experiences.
